We invite you to a 4-hour darbuka course with a renowned percussionist and educator Raquy Danzinger. It’s recommended both to absolute beginners as well as intermediate students.

PROGRAMME

∙ 12:00-14:00 ∙ SPLIT HAND BASICS
The Split Hand Technique is a darbuka style that has appeared in Turkey in the last 20 years. The drummers use the individual fingers, attaining great speed and dexterity. Raquy has lived in Istanbul for the past several years learning this style and practicing with master drummers. This workshop will cover the basics of this style as well as the traditional rhythms and phrases.
A darbuka or dumbek is recommended. If you don’t have one – contact us!

∙ 14:20-16:20 ∙ SPLIT HAND AND BEYOND, ODD TIMING, SOLO
Raquy will show the latest techniques she has been learning from master drummers in Istanbul. Besides techniques we will work on odd rhythms, time exercises and solo phrases.
