Berlin frame drum school

I’m Borys Slowikowski – professional percussionist, educator, and psychologist from Poland, based in Berlin.

I offer private and group classes in modern frame drums for all levels. I also invite percussion teachers to give workshops at my studio.

My teaching may be adressed to anyone who feels like learning – also those, that haven’t yet learned a musical instrument. I provide my students with exercises and compositions to expand their understanding of rhythm and develop their playing skills. We work with traditional grooves and their countless variations, become friends with odd time signatures, practice limb independence, make first (and further) steps in improvisation, learn to compose our own rhythms and phrases… All in a very systematic approach, adjusted to the pace of each student. In the whole process, we will pay attention to the body: posture, responsiveness, relaxation, breath – as it plays a substantial role in any musical activity. 

Music is an innate human need. I encourage my students to give it a voice!
